Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Department of Information Science at the University of North Texas (UNT) is seeking applicants for the position of assistant professor (tenure track) or associate professor. The successful candidate will teach, conduct research, contribute service, provide leadership for the youth librarianship program, and develop close relationships with practitioners in the field. The selected candidate will work closely with the College of Information faculty, advise master's and doctoral students, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, and advise students enrolled in the youth librarianship program.

- Design courses and programming related to children and youth services

Minimum Qualifications:
The minimum requirement for appointment is an earned doctorate in library science, information science, or other related field at the time of appointment.

The program of study focuses on developing skills and competencies in the following areas: the history of youth information services and systems, knowledge of the children and youth, administrative and managerial skills, communications skills, materials and collection development, reference services, programming skills, technology applications, advocacy, public relations and networking, professionalism, and professional development.

The program seeks candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas: literature for children and young adults, formal and informal learning environments, multiple literacies, youth information seeking, computational thinking, library and information services for children and youth, digital youth, research, and evidence-based practice research. Candidates with related research experiences and research are encouraged to apply.

Candidates will demonstrate evidence of effective teaching, research, and scholarship with experience and expertise in the broad area of information science and the specific area of youth librarianship.

Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates with a demonstrated record of funded scholarly research and publication.
