Basic Functions: Collaborate with professional and student staff to support and facilitate the development of welcoming and engaging residential communities, intentionally blending in the marquee strengths of the college. Provide formative supervision and support to Community Coordinators (early-career professional staff) and indirectly supervise student Community Advisors via our intentional community development model, participate in the on-call rotation to support students' well-being, and serve in a conflict resolution capacity for formal and informal resolution.

Essential Job Functions: Serve as a member of a team-oriented Residential Communities professional team. Contribute to the continued development and advancement of an innovative and engaging approach to community building and education based on Denison's mission, leadership principles, commitment to civic engagement, creative problem solving, and elements of individual and community well-being. Lead and work with student staff, professional staff, and residents to build vibrant, inclusive communities, employing innovative ideas and approaches. Assess, evaluate, and update programs and services to match the mission of the college, vision of the department and core student learning outcomes. Supervise and train student and professional staff, prioritizing community development, inclusion, and well-being skills and mindsets. Maintain high visibility and engagement with the student body and campus community at university events; work effectively with a culturally diverse population of students to coach, mentor and support dynamic needs. Coordinate and design programmatic and other co-curricular initiatives (grounded in civic engagement, diversity, leadership development and creative problem solving), managing the assigned program budget and maintain records. Build strong, collaborative relationships with campus partners, students, faculty/staff and parents; and communicate regularly with these partners. Employ appreciative advising and positive psychology practices in communication and interactions with students, colleagues and other constituencies. Sustain collegial relationships with the entire Residential Communities team, the Department of Student Housing Operations and Planning, the Dean of Students, the Dean of First Year Students, the Director of Community Values and Conflict Resolution and the Director of the Alford Community Leadership and Involvement Center. Demonstrate generous support to the work of colleagues in Student Development as well as faculty and staff across the college. Strive to create a culture characterized by creativity and innovation in problem solving, optimism, individual initiative, a shared sense of responsibility, the intentional cultivation of trust, and attention to clear and timely communication. Serve in conflict resolution to address behavioral matters utilizing an educational framework and restorative justice principles. Serve as an on-call professional for the University. Manage crisis situations; provide on call response and report maintenance concerns. Facilitate educational meetings with students; encourage conflict resolution through mediation meetings and counsel and refer students as appropriate. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: An earned Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant professional experience. An ability to accommodate extended work hours, including evening and weekend work hours. Ability to work with diverse groups of people. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Must have a current, valid driver's license and must be insurable under Denison's liability insurance policy. Collaboratively focused professional with demonstrated capacity as a fair and respectful leader, and proven ability to provide effective guidance to other professional, support, and student staff. Strong desire to build relationships with students, colleagues, and college partners. Communicate effectively orally and in writing, including the ability to engage in one-on-one and in public forum. Relational leader with exceptional interpersonal skills; integrity, sound judgment, and the ability to make difficult decisions. Ability to manage multiple projects and initiatives at once; ability to take direction and initiative. Demonstrated experience in student development, student involvement, leadership development, housing, residential education, or restorative conduct processes. Commitment to inclusion and desire to work with diverse groups of people. Competent in fulfilling administrative duties and managing systems. Background in working with small teams to accomplish tasks and meet stated goals and objectives. Positive attitude.

Preferred Qualifications: An earned Master's degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, or other related advanced degree. A propensity for innovation and creative problem solving. An understanding and appreciation for the liberal arts and residential colleges and enjoys working with college students.
