This position supervises three dynamic Trades shops at Boston University. These shops include carpentry, lock, and sign-painting shops. The Carpentry Shop builds custom cabinetry and supports the summer renovations. Others, repair furniture or work on special projects. The Lock Shop handles lock changes, emergency response, and to support safety issues and special projects. Finally, the Sign Shop provides signage for a variety of University uses. This shop designs and fabricates custom and standards signs using computer graphics.
This Manager will collaborates on new construction and remodeling projects throughout the University from start to finish. In addition, the manager will interact with a variety of BU community clients such as students, faculty, staff, and other key stakeholders. This position will supervise vendors and contractors. This position will have significant budgetary responsibilities.
The position will manage non-exempt, trades workers under the 32BJ union. You will oversee a diverse group of approximately 30 employees.
This position deals with emergencies and special projects.

Minimum of a high school degree, with additional education preferred such as a vocational degree or associates. MA Construction Supervisor License
Seven to ten years work experience in management in the commercial building trades.
Knowledge of codes such as ADA compliance.
