Boston University Industry Engagement is an exciting new function at the University that holistically addresses the needs of companies wishing to engage the University in Corporate Sponsored Research and Corporate Relations providing a bridge between industry and the research and educational domains of the University. Reporting to the Director of Contracting, Industry Engagement, the Research Contract Analyst will be responsible for contract initiation and associated document review, contract amendment review and negotiation, Material Transfer Agreement (MTA) review and negotiation, Confidential Disclosure Agreement (CDA) review and negotiation, Data Use Agreement (DUA) review and negotiation; contract database maintenance and reporting, award set up support and post-award support. The Research Contract Analyst will assist with other functions as requested, including generating weekly reports as well as ad hoc reports for Industry Engagement, the Boston University Office of Research, and other internal customers. Industry Engagement is a fast-paced environment where creativity, flexibility, and teamwork are crucial.

In this role, the Research Contract Analyst will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team across University functions with faculty researchers and industry partners helping to bring Boston University's research out of the lab to have real impact in solving some of society's greatest problems. Boston University's Industry Engagement Contracting group focuses on all forms of industry-supported research contracting activities ranging from clinical trials, pre-clinical and basic research, material transfer, confidential disclosure, equipment loan agreements, and data sharing agreements. This position is responsible for the review, negotiation and preparation of these agreements for execution and providing pre-award grant, contract and budget management expertise and assists in post-award activities.

This position will work collaboratively with a wide range of internal stakeholders including the Office of the General Counsel, Office of Technology Development, Boston University's world leading research faculty, as well as a vast range of industry sponsors. This role will contribute to developing and implementing streamlined processes and communications to be responsive to an active and growing line of business.

Required Skills

BA/BS and a minimum of 3-5 years of prior related contract analyst and/or paralegal experience required; prior related contractual experience in an academic setting preferred; Strong communication and analytical skills (verbal and written) as well as subject matter expertise are critical in this role. Bachelor's degree required, MBA preferred
