Associate Vice Chancellor, Health Advancement

The Associate Vice Chancellor, UCI Health Advancement (AVCHA) is responsible for providing leadership and strategic planning for Health Advancement programs and operations in coordination with the UCI University Advancement (UCIUA) division in support of the UCI Health System and the Samueli College of Health Sciences (COHS), which includes the UCI School of Medicine, the Sue and Bill Gross School of Nursing, the future schools of pharmacy and population health, and numerous other centers, institutes, and research units. UCI Health Advancement (UCIUA) raises approximately $50M annually in new gifts and commitment. This amount is expected to double in coming years.

The AVCHA reports directly to the Vice Chancellor of University Advancement and Alumni Relations (VCUA) and is an integral member of his senior management team. The AVCHA also has dotted reporting lines to the next vice chancellor for health affairs, the CEO of UCI Health, and works closely with the deans of the schools within COHS. In partnership with UCI Health and UA leaders as well as health advancement staff, the AVC will develop and refine the overall strategy and funding priorities for health advancement at UCI and guide health sciences leadership through the preparation for and execution of UCI's upcoming campaign.

The AVCHA will mentor and coach the Health Advancement development directors and their respective support staff through an annual planning process to solicit principal, major and annual gift donors and continually identify opportunities to strengthen, leverage and engage the UCI Health System's and Health Sciences' numerous advisory boards in meaningful ways. The AVCHA provides primary direction to development officers and staff and strategic guidance to develop and implement annual performance plans and standards to achieve the fundraising and campaign goals.

The AVCHA will maintain a portfolio of 25 prospects and donors for cultivation and solicitation, focusing on individuals and entities with capacities of $5M or more.

In concert with UCI Strategic Communications and Marketing, and UCIMC Communications, devise innovative methods for broadening the UCIHS visibility as centers for excellence and as significant philanthropic organizations, locally and nationally.
