The Office of Medical Education is seeking a Clinical Skills Development Coordinator (Student Services Specialist) to provide administrative and operational support to faculty and staff working to improve the clinical skills development of our medical students. The Clinical Skills Development Coordinator assists in the coordination of curriculum and programs related to the clinical skills achievement of Stanford MD students. Under the direction of the Director of Curricular Affairs, the coordinator will work closely with the Early Clinical Experiences (ECE) Program, Student Guidance Program (SGP), Clinical Skills Performance Examination team, the Practice of Medicine course series, clerkships, and others in the required MD Program to resolve first level decisions on issues related to scheduling, student activities, faculty recruitment, event planning, and other academic services.
Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Schedule and coordinate the selection, administration and participation of first year medical students in various ECE sites/selectives.
  • Create and maintain a database of clinical sites and preceptors, including but not limited to contact information, availability/scheduling preferences, capacity, and locations.
  • Track student progress for those participating in the Student Guidance Program (SGP) and ensure medical students are following up on their guidance plans.
  • Collect and review data from multiple sources including student feedback surveys, needs assessments.
  • Prepare and summarize reports and make recommendations to enhance offerings, such as programs and courses and to influence current processes and policies.
  • Schedule medical students in the annual Clinical Performance Examination series for second- and third-year medical students.
  • Assist required courses in recruiting patients for classroom activities related to clinical skills.
  • Support program committees including scheduling, room reservations, taking minutes, and disseminating next steps.
  • Maintain and update websites related to ECE, SGP, and other academic activities.
  • Plan programmatic celebratory events.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's degree in education or public health related field and two year's relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):
Two-year college degree and one year of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Basic office administration skills.
  • Ability to learn compliance with legal, financial, and university policies and external regulations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:
  • Frequently sit, perform desk-based computer tasks.
  • Occasionally stand, walk, twist, use fine manipulation, grasp, use a telephone, write by hand, sort and file paperwork, lift, carry, push, and pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
