Job Summary

The Department of Student Development in the College of Education at the University of Massachusetts Amherst is seeking a qualified candidate to join a dedicated and accomplished community of faculty, students, and staff as the Director of Clinical Training in School Psychology. This is a full-time, non-tenure track position, beginning in September 1, 2019.

Job Description

The Director of Clinical Training will take a leadership role in developing and supporting clinical field experiences, including practica and internships for both Ed.S. and Ph.D. students in School Psychology, teach courses in the School Psychology Program, advise and direct Ed.S. and Ph.D. students specializing in School Psychology, and provide service to the School Psychology profession and the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

This non-tenure track position will involve organizing, supervising and mentoring students through the sequential clinical experiences required for licensure in school psychology and professional psychology. The Director of Clinical Training will be responsible for courses and seminars that focus on supervision of practica and internship experiences. Courses may also include Cognitive Assessment, Physiological Foundations of Behavior, Learning, and Affect, and Quantitative Research Methods.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must be a Licensed Psychologist/Health Service Provider or license-eligible in the state of Massachusetts and must obtain license prior to September 2019. In addition, candidates must hold a license in School Psychology or be license-eligible through the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in the state of Massachusetts, and must hold a doctorate in School Psychology or Child Clinical Psychology from an APA- accredited program.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred candidates will have demonstrated evidence of high-quality research and inquiry in School Psychology or related fields and be motivated to collaborate with colleagues across the department, the College of Education, and in schools in the nearby community to improve the field of school psychology in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and nationally. Preferred candidates will have a record of excellent teaching skills at the university level, strong clinical experience working with school-aged clients, preferably within school settings, strong clinical supervision and mentorship skills to doctoral students and K-12 school psychology practitioners, and the ability to develop and maintain relationships with field supervisors across the region. Ideal candidates would approach their clinical work from an eco-behavioral framework and solution-focused practice.

Additional Information

Salary is commensurate with qualifications. Final appointment is contingent upon the availability of funds.
