Summary

The Assistant Vice President for Project Management and Strategic Consulting is a significant leadership position that will manage a team of internal project managers/consultants in providing expertise to leaders on campus, helping to support and execute major initiatives, change, and continuous process improvement (CPI) efforts. The AVP is responsible for overseeing and leading the strategic and tactical functions of the Project Management Organization (PMO), as it pertains to both internal facing and external facing projects for the University. The AVP at times may a project lead. The AVP will work across all departments within Tulane University to gain a full understanding of projects deliverables (both internally and externally) and establish an efficient workflow that will allow department leaders to meet deliverables and have a positive impact on university-level strategic objectives.  The AVP will also help us stay abreast of updated trends and practices that will establish our PMO as a Best in Class operation that will continue to foster productivity and support the continued growth we are experiencing.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of progressively more responsible experience as a program, portfolio and/or project management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • More than 10 years of progressive project management experience
  • Graduate degree in Organizational Psychology or related discipline.
  • Project Management Certification (PMP) and/or any professional designation recognized by the project management profession.
  • Experience having worked in an academic, non-profit or other academic/educational institution.
  • Proven knowledge of strategic planning, project management tools, concepts, and methodologies.
  • Ability to lead and develop engaged high performing project teams.
