Basic Function

This position will serve as the Lead IT Specialist for the Loudoun Campus. This position will be responsible for coordination of implementing ITS project affecting the campus. The position will also be responsible for the local budget for the campus IT department and project budgets. Position will oversee the supervision and training of the technicians. Position will act in project lead role to effectively implement IT projects, in addition to providing technical support to all campus staff.

Duties and Responsibilities

Install & setup new PC’s including configuring user options and network parameters.
Install local and network printers, printer drivers and configure printers on user systems.
Install computer hardware, peripherals, instructional media equipment, and application software for Windows servers, PCs and Apple computers.
Manage site operations, which include computer labs, Enhanced Electronic Classrooms, Library, Testing Center and Labs.
Ensure that classroom lab computers are configured correctly and software programs are installed and working properly.
Ensure faculty and staff computers are configured correctly and software programs are installed and working properly.
Ensure classroom/lab technology desks and all hardware is in good working order. Ensure inventory database is accurate and up to date.
Proactively maintain PC labs, open PC labs, MAC lab, adjunct suites, technology classrooms, conference rooms and faculty/staff offices in good operating condition.
Perform installation, maintenance and repair of computers and other equipment such as printers, scanners, FAX machines, cameras, document cameras Smartboards, projectors and VOIP phones.
Arrange and supervise any necessary warranty repairs.
Install and update software including drivers and plugins to manage malware risk, respond to user needs, and maintain equipment and network compatibility.
Provide technical input for the development of ITS projects involving the campus. Regularly meet with College IT Engineers on projects.
Regularly meet with coordinator of campus projects to provide Information System consultation and perform an advisor role for stakeholders.
Provide strategic planning for the department and develop technical standards to advance improvements and efficiency.
Accurately track monetary expenditures for the local campus IT and project budgets.
Coordinate scheduling of Campus IT/AV/CL personnel.
Provide input for yearly evaluations of personnel.
Incorporate leading edge technologies and software into the campus learning environments and Faculty and Staff environments.
Act as campus point of contact for college IT security team to respond to incidents. Document and make available security policies for IT team.

Minimum Qualifications

*B.A. in Computer Science or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
*Significant experience as an IT specialist.

Preferred Qualifications

*College degree with significant coursework or applicable training in information systems, data processing, computer science, or a related field.
*Experience with applications support on stand-alone microcomputer, LAN-based, and mainframe platforms (including experience with SCCM, Citrix, XenDesktop, MS Operating Systems, and current Windows Server, and CICS environments).

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

*Knowledge with SCCM, Cirtix, XenDesktop and Microsoft Servers.
*Knowledge with Apple OS, Microsoft OS operating systems.
*Knowledge of microcomputer equipment, and network hardware, software, and applications, usage and maintenance procedures.
*Ability to interface effectively with all faculty and staff while providing responsive service. *Willingness to learn new technological skills. *Effective oral and written communication skills with individuals having technical and non-technical skills.
