Posting Number: 03349
Position Title: Professor, Chief Physician, and Dean, Clinical Affairs
Position Type: Faculty
Division/School: BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES DIVISION
Hiring Unit: BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES DIVISION
Position Description: Professor, Chief Physician, and Dean, Clinical Affairs

The University of Chicago Medicine (UCM) seeks a dynamic and highly accomplished physician executive to join one of the most progressive and prestigious academic medical centers in the nation. The new Chief Physician/Dean, Clinical Affairs will be joining the organization at an exciting and transformational time as UCM moves beyond the Hyde Park Campus through a series of affiliation agreements with other area hospitals and builds additional outpatient facilities on Chicago's South Side.

This position provides an outstanding opportunity for a physician executive who is expert in the complex operational management of academic clinics, and seeks to expand their leadership scope into a system-wide role with accountability for the faculty practice plan (University of Chicago Physicians Group), an early stage health plan, and the UCM Care Network, a subsidiary of UCM, recently established to house the community based, non-academic medical group providers and other clinically integrated network activities. Through the UCM Care Network, UCM is able to affiliate with community physicians and employ physicians outside of the traditional faculty practice plan. The University of Chicago's Pritzker School of Medicine ("PSOM" - a school within the University's Biological Sciences Division - "BSD") is ranked among the top medical schools in the United States and is the highest ranked of any in Illinois.

The UCM has been at the forefront of medical care since 1927. Located in historic Hyde Park, the primary medical campus includes the Center for Care and Discovery, Comer Children's Hospital, Bernard A. Mitchell Hospital for adult inpatient care, and the Duchossois Center for Advanced Medicine (DCAM) totaling more than 550 beds in service and net patient care revenues over $1.4 billion. Plans are underway for a new trauma program and an additional 150-bed patient tower. New ambulatory facilities are located in Orland Park and the South Loop, and the Ingalls Health System has recently integrated into the network.

The Chief Physician/Dean, Clinical Affairs will work with other enterprise leadership to solidify an integrated care delivery system and grow the clinical practice throughout UCM, in all its locations. As head of the faculty practice plan, this individual will work to implement approaches and systems that will ensure its readiness for operational success in the changing healthcare climate of the future. The Chief Physician/Dean, Clinical Affairs must qualify for a faculty appointment in an appropriate academic department of the BSD, to be determined based on qualifications, training and interests.

To be considered for the position, applicants must upload a curriculum vitae to the University of Chicago's Academic Career Opportunities website at http://tinyurl.com/UCMChiefPhysDeanClinAffairs. Review of applications will continue until the position is filled. Nominations may be directed to Christine Mackey-Ross and Sue LeGrand preferably via email to slegrand@wittkieffer.com, or call 314-754-6073.
