Position Description: The University of Chicago's Department of Medicine, Sections of Genetic Medicine and Hematology / Oncology are seeking a Research Assistant Professor. The primary activity of a Research Assistant Professor is academic research in association with a faculty member or team. This position requires an individual with expertise to be involved in all aspects of the design, development, implementation and analysis of research projects focused on cancer genetics, with particular emphasis on the analysis of large genomic data sets. Applicants must 1) possess a PhD (or foreign equivalent) in an area of biological science, 2) have at least one year of postdoctoral experience and 3) have demonstrated expertise in the analysis of genomic data. Preference will be given to applicants with a strong background in bioinformatics and computational biology, a record of peer-reviewed publications in these areas, experience in writing grant applications and manuscripts and experience with assisting in the training of technicians and students.
