GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Instructional Designer is responsible for supporting faculty in the development and revision of course materials for online courses. Specific duties include using web-based course management software in the curriculum design process; assisting in producing learning materials in a variety of formats including print, graphics, audio, video, animation, and multimedia; assisting in designing, developing, and delivering workshops and online training to faculty and staff in the use of instructional technologies in distance education; and assisting faculty and subject matter experts in designing innovative teaching materials for a self-directed, flipped classroom approach. The position reports to the Director of Center for Teaching & Learning and exercises supervision over work study students. NOTE: This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in education, business administration, human resources or related area from an accredited college or university.
Experience: One year of teaching/training experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.

SELECTION CRITERIA: *Attach a brief statement addressing how you acquired each of the following knowledge, skills, and abilities through your education, personal experience, or previous employment: Knowledge of: 1) D2L Brightspace or other web-based enterprise course management systems;2)best practices in electronic learning environments; 3)trends in teaching/learning theories, computer-based instruction, and distance learning; 4)methods and software to capture and edit multimedia content for online courses, such as Snagit, Camtasia, and Zoom; Skills in: 5) Designing visually; 6) customer service orientation; 7) strong interpersonal skills; 8)departmental planning activities; 9) interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Ability to: 10) Manage multiple projects concurrently;11) be an effective listener who can synthesize information and make constructive suggestions based on oral input; 12) work in a team or individually; 13) guide the curriculum design and strategies for adapting/converting courses to web-based delivery; 14) to assist in designing, developing and delivering workshops and online training to faculty and staff in the use of technologies in multiple modes of delivery; 15) perform duties in an independent, timely, efficient manner, requiring a minimum of direct supervision; 16) assist in compliance with copyright and ADA guidelines.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Desk work; occasional field trips e.g. for college or program activities. Insignificant effort other than normal movement. Minimal Hazard/Exposure: Standard office setting. At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort.
