Ethics Postdoctoral Fellowship (Jan. 2019)

Job description

The Roger Mudd Center for Ethics welcomes applications for the 2019-2021 Mudd Center for Ethics Postdoctoral Fellowship. Postdoctoral fellows will be expected to teach three undergraduate courses during the year, typically including a 100-level course in the fall, an upper-division course in the winter, and a third course in the fall, winter, or spring (chosen in consultation with the Director).  In addition, the Mudd Ethics Fellow will be expected to participate actively in Mudd Center activities and event planning, to interact with and advise undergraduates affiliated with the Mudd Center, and to help foster an interdisciplinary ethics community across the College of Liberal Arts, the Williams School of Commerce, Economics, and Politics, and the School of Law. The appointment will be for two years, beginning on July 1, 2019 and ending on June 30, 2021.

Qualifications

 Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Philosophy, Political Theory, or a related normative field.  The successful candidate will have normative research interests in moral or political philosophy, and a focus on ethical issues arising in public or professional life.  The successful candidate will be someone who has completed his or her Ph.D. by June of 2019, and who is no more than three years from the awarding of his or her degree (i.e., June of 2016), although exceptions to this rule may be made in unusual circumstances.
