The Department of Architectural Engineering (AE) at The Pennsylvania State University (University Park, PA) invites applications for graduate research assistantships/fellowships in the integrated delivery of ultra-high-performance buildings, including the following topics:

a) Human health, comfort, and productivity implications of building indoor environments, including the effects of light, sound, vibration, thermal environment, and air quality;
b) Improving the understanding of the dynamic relationships between buildings and their occupants, stakeholders, and design participants;
c) Integrated processes for improving delivery of ultra-high-performance buildings;
d) Improving the design, construction, operation and maintenance of grid-connected buildings and communities supported by renewable energy sources and by distributed energy networks;
e) Smart buildings embedded with sensors (Internet of Things and wearable technologies) and supported with artificial intelligence;
f) Building-technology frontiers for construction automation and future construction workforce and job-place safety;
g) Emerging building materials and processes through the adaptation and integration of advanced computational and/or experimental technologies.

Assistantships/Fellowships are available for August 2019. To receive full consideration, applications should be received by January 21st. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until all positions are filled. Applicants should hold a bachelor or master’s degree in architectural engineering or a closely related engineering or science discipline such as mechanical or civil engineering. Applications should include: full resume, statement of intent, contact information for three references, official GRE scores, and TOEFL/IELTS scores (for International applicants).
