Department Overview
Under direction of the Utilities Foreman the Utility Operator provides a wide variety of services to the UNTHSC Community. The Operator is responsible for monitoring buildings for normal operating/running conditions. Regulate equipment operations and conditions; respond to system or unit abnormalities, report system abnormalities, or take corrective action.

Responsible for providing operation, maintenance/repair and management of building utilities; operate utility equipment; monitor systems for normal running conditions. Regulate equipment operations and conditions; respond to system or unit abnormalities, diagnose the cause, and recommend or take corrective action.

Position Details
The Facilities Department at the University of North Texas Health Science Center is seeking to hire a Building Utilities Operator to join our team. Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:

* Perform routine inspection, maintenance and repairs to building mechanical systems, i.e. pumps, valves etc.
* Perform routine inspection, maintenance and repairs to HVAC systems and related equipment. i.e. air handling units, filters, cooling towers.
* Maintain comfort levels in a building environment through the computerized building automation system.
* Startup/shut down major building equipment. i.e. Chillers, Pumps, Cooling Towers.
* Perform minor plumbing and general building maintenance duties as required.
* Employee may perform other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the Department.
* Knowledge of and ability to work with appropriate tools and equipment to perform building maintenance using the proper safety precautions.
* Knowledge of mechanical utility systems.
* Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions in order to communicate with co-workers or outside contractors and to read equipment directions or blueprints.
* Analytical ability required for monitoring equipment reports and maintaining equipment, or predicting chemical use/needs.
* This position will require a high level of customer service skills, technical skills.
* Keep up with computer logs.
* Keep up p.m.'s that are assigned.
* Help maintain equipment.
* Fire alarms.
* Elevators.
* Safety issues and Service calls within UNTHSC.
* Johnny on spot when needed in other Facilities areas.

Required Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:

Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:

* Electrical troubleshooting skills.
* Experience in the operation and repair of boilers, chillers, air handlers, pumps and life safety systems.
* Good computer skills with experience controlling Building Automation Systems.
* Ability to work any shift.
