The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth (UNTHSC) is committed to the judicious, Humane use of Animals in research and education. UNTHSC's Department of Laboratory Animal Medicine (DLAM) provides professional and technical service for Laboratory Animal Care, Veterinary Medical services, and Animal Research Project support for faculty, students, and employees of UNTHSC.

Position Details
The Laboratory Animal Medicine Department at the University of North Texas Health Science Center is seeking to hire a LAM Facility Manager to join our team. Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:

* Supervise animal care staff and related HR matters.
* Develop policies, procedures & processes related to animal husbandry & DLAM office.
* Manage the procurement and inventory control of all feed, bedding, supplies & equipment.
* Assist in planning new or renovated animal facility space.
* Provide training & implement DLAM, local & federal SOP's, Policies, guidelines & forms; assuring appropriate records and files related to program operation & maintenance are properly maintained.
* Responsible for microbiological testing, exclusion & containment.
* Assist investigators, faculty and staff with problem solving, training and related issues.
* Serve as a voting member of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee.
* Establish a customer service oriented oversight & leadership for all animal holding areas.
* Manage and maintain the animal facilities to ensure that systems, policies and implementations are executed properly and in accordance with state, federal and university policies and regulations, as well as accreditation standards.
* Provide training to the Department of Laboratory Animal Medicine personnel regarding proper & safe operation of equipment.
* Provide the DLAM personnel with hazardous chemical training.
* Participate in GLP studies as a Research Scientist.
* Assist in the planning, coordination and conduct of the studies to include setting the calendar, SOP writing/editing, performing observations and procedures to test systems (injections, surgery, blood collection, weights, necropsy etc), and documentation.
* Serve as a member of the campus Emergency Operations Center (EOC).
* Monitor environmental conditions in the animal facilities.
* Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess the following required qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and five (5) years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:

* CMAR certification preferred.
* Bachelor's degree or higher in Animal or Science related field.
* Minimum 4 years of experience in biomedical research or animal husbandry, including at least 2 years in a leadership capacity.
