Ophthalmology Research Administration
This Department of Ophthalmology position is responsible for thefinancial and administrativemanagement of specific department operating units.25%Manage the monthly financial review process, which includesreconciliations, detailed reports, andprojections to confirmcompliance with institutional and federalregulations, sponsor terms andconditions.25%Provide administrative support and financial management for theportfolio assigned, specifically theDuke Reading Center and the Clinical Research Unit, which includesoperational, discretionary andsponsored project accounts ensuring compliance with institutional,federal regulations in additiontosponsor terms and conditions.This includes, but is not limited to, the annual budget for operatingand discretionary accounts.20%For sponsored projects, work in conjunction with faculty and staff incompiling and submittingproposals, entering application information into institutional andsponsor systems as appropriate, inatimatimely manner so as to meet institutional and sponsor deadlines.This includes, but is not limited to, budget development, contractnegotiations, and awardmanagement.15%Complete administrative and financial actions required for projectobjectives in an accurate and ttimelymanner maintain complete documentation of all project activities. Thisincludes, but is not limited toto, establishing accounts (fund codes) as needed, effort/salaryadjustments, transfers, closing out eended projects, accounts no longerneeded.10%Prepare financial reports and analyses for senior management andfaculty to identify areas ofopportunity and/or risk.This includes, but is not limited to, the SOM required revenue andoverdraft reports.5%Other duties as assignedKnowledge/Skills/AbilitiesSignificant financial experience with exposure to clinicalresearch/researchAttention to detailProcess orientedExperience with Excel and other analytical tools
