LAB RESEARCH ANALYST I - PEDS
Pediatrics-Allergy/Immunology

The Duke Division of Allergy and Immunology and Department of Immunology are currently seeking to fill a Research Analyst position focused on proof-of-concept research and development efforts for therapeutic applications of monoclonal antibodies and cellular immunotherapies. These studies are supported in part through a sponsored research partnership with Collective BioTherapy, Inc., an early-stage biotech company located in RTP. Cellective BioTherapy is developing novel mAb- and cell-based platforms for treating cancer, autoimmunity, and immunodeficiency. This is a unique hands-on opportunity to join a research and development team and help move science from the laboratory to the bedside.

Responsibilities include the following: •Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot experimental protocols and equipment •Assist in the development of new research procedures and techniques •Compile results, maintain lab notebooks, and assist with reports and research manuscripts •Advanced technical assistance and supervision for ongoing research projects •Assist in the training of new personnel •Active participation in laboratory team meetings •Generate data, SOPs, graphs, slides, and manuscripts for publication •Perform molecular, cellular, biochemical, and immunological analyses •Molecular biology techniques including PCR, DNA sequencing, and molecular cloning •Culture eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells, and viruses •Prepare culture media, reagents and solutions •Purify and analyze cells, tissues, and RNA/DNA from human and mouse cells •Experiments using in vitro assays and animal models of human disease •Mouse model studies (mice) and colony maintenance •Execute and document laboratory experiments with precision and in detail •Maintain routine laboratory operations, research equipment, and reagents •Assist lab team members as needed

Preferences for success in the Research Analyst position include: •Advanced degree in a biological science, or Bachelor's degree and equivalent experience •Publications in scientific journals and/or presentations at research conferences

•Ability to prioritize in an academic research and therapeutic development environment •A positive work and research team ethic, with dedication to a career in research •Strong oral and written English communication skills •Ability to handle complex tasks and work independently as well as collaboratively.

Education

Work requires a bachelor's degree in botany, biology, zoology or other directly related scientific field.
