Minimum Education/Experience: Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, or Marriage and Family Therapy, or other appropriate human services field. Three (3) years experience in Counseling. Demonstrated skills in short-term mental health counseling and appropriate assessment. Demonstrated interest in and experience working with college students including diverse and/or underrepresented college student populations. Demonstrated ability and interest in outreach programming. Demonstrated consultation skills. Knowledge of clinical evaluation techniques, computer programs and current research in the field. Fully licensed or certified in North Carolina in respective professional field.

Job Duties: The Center for Counseling and Student Development is looking to hire a temporary Staff Counselor part-time 15-20 hours for Spring Semester 2019 (January 16, 2019 thru May 15, 2019). Hours worked between 15-20 hours per week negotiable based on departmental needs. The Counselors' primary duty is to provide counseling and short-term treatment for students with psychological and developmental concerns. Specific Position Duties: Counseling individuals and groups regarding personal, social, and developmental concerns. Provide crisis intervention services including consultation, evaluation, counseling, referral, and follow-up. These services may include rotating coverage of daytime emergency crisis services. Carry out administrative duties as assigned by the Director. Provide consultation to parents, students, staff/faculty on as needed basis. Staff Counselors employed by the Center for Counseling and Student Development may report to either the Director or Associate Director of the Center for Counseling and Student Development. Due to the temporary nature of this position, it does not include a benefits package.
