Information Services is currently seeking applications for a Desktop Support Specialist to support technology used by the campus community, including classrooms and computer lab environments. Configure computers, apply software updates and patches to college computers. Troubleshoot software and hardware problems for desktop users. Assist the student-run Computer Depot as necessary. Support the use of standard classroom technology (computers and AV systems). Maintain hardware and software in computer labs. Collaborate with faculty on the use of educational technology in their work. This position requires flexibility to work weekends and evenings when necessary.

Required Education

Associate’s Degree; Bachelor’s Degree preferred

Required Qualifications

Demonstration of excellent communication and problem-solving skills; familiarity with the desktop support concepts, practices and procedures; experience with centralized desktop management tools (SCCM, Jamf, LANDESK, etc.);familiarity with centralized software license management; possession of customer-service skills, attitude, and aptitude towards detail and customer services; proficiency with desktop and mobile hardware, software, and operating systems, printers, and audio-visual equipment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must be a self-starter with project management experience, either volunteer or professional. Ability to work with a wide range of campus departments and relate well to the public is a must.

Preferred Qualifications Physical Demands

Light work: General office environment that requires sitting on a constant basis. The candidate will perform computer work, keyboard use, and telecommunications on a frequent basis. Manual dexterity will be required to perform keyboard and writing activities on a frequent basis. Visual acuity is required on a frequent basis to read and review print and electronic documents. Reaching and pushing/pulling with a force of up to 10lbs will be performed on a rare basis. Mobility of the candidate will be sufficient to allow moving about the office and to and from the building on an occasional basis. The physical demands must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
