Building Maintenance Technician

Overview

Responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of the facilities walls, floors, doors windows ceilings and roofs.  Performs rigging and crane operations.  Responsible for snow removal.

Responsibilities
  • Repairs and installs gypsum and plaster walls, windows, suspended ceilings, floor tiles and carpeting.
  • Performs rigging operations, moves equipment, and furniture throughout the lab.
  • Removes snow from sidewalks and roadways by shoveling, using snow throwers   andoperating a snow plow.
  • Prepares and paints surfaces throughout the lab.
  • Makes repairs to, caulks, and flashes rubber membrane roofs.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Attend Training classes to meet PPPL requirements.

Has knowledge of, supports, and consistently applies the Laboratory’s Integrated Safety Management (ISM) program and all ES&H requirements.  Encourages others to be safety conscious and observe safety rules including use of safety equipment.  Reviews work for environmental impact.  Complies with ES&H Directives, DOE Orders and OSHA standards.  Attends required training.

 

Qualifications

 

 

High School Education or Equivalent.  Valid Drivers License.  Vocational or Tech school training in the area of general construction preferred.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in confined spaces, from elevated platforms, as well as, scaffolding ladders in awkward positions and locations.
  • Ability to lift fifty pounds.
