The Department of Health Policy and Management in the Milken Institute School of Public Health at the George Washington University is seeking applicants for a tenure-track faculty position in the area of health economics at the Assistant or Associate Professor level (12-month appointment).

The Department offers a number of degrees, including an MPH in health policy, MS in health services research, a master’s in healthcare administration (MHA), executive and online graduate programs, and doctoral programs including a DrPH in health policy and a PhD program in public policy with a concentration in health policy. Department faculty are engaged in a wide variety of externally funded research projects focusing on social determinants of health, health system reform, health care financing and pricing, healthcare quality, healthcare access and disparities, health equity, and health workforce issues.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will teach in the Department’s academic programs; mentor and advise master and doctoral degree students; engage in a vibrant research agenda; and pursue external funding. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications. The department welcomes a broad research agenda that may encompass multi-disciplinary research, collaboration with health sector practitioners, and specialized health economics research. Additionally, collaboration with the George Washington University’s Department of Economics, the Trachtenberg School of Public Policy, School of Business, School of Medicine, and School of Nursing is encouraged.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in economics or an allied field such as public policy, health services research, health economics or business economics by the date of appointment. Applicants also must have the ability to teach health economics or related courses, and must demonstrate the ability to conduct externally funded health services or health economics research.
