I. JOB OVERVIEW

Job Description Summary:

The SEAS Computing Facility is the academic computing service unit of the School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS). The computing facility provides computing resources and support exclusively to SEAS faculty, researchers, staff, and students. The computing facility is currently searching for a Web Developer who will support the Engineering School Web services and overall digital presence. The candidate will be a resource to SEAS offering web development expertise, building, managing, optimizing the various school websites and contributing to the school’s digital presence. This position will report to the Director, SEAS IT and has no direct reports.

The responsibilities are:
-Primary expert for maintaining the school’s websites. Build, deploy, manage, and optimize the school’s websites on the Drupal and Wordpress platforms. Create templates to ensure standardization. Create microsites to support the school.

Ensure Website security through a strong understanding of Internet security principles and secure coding practices.

Ensure Website stability and efficiency regarding load time, usability, and cross-browser compatibility issues. Leverage SiteImprove tools and Google Analytics and Tag manager to monitor, review and optimize the school main sites.

Regularly review schools’ websites to ensure sites are staying current, phase out those no longer needed, and lead the transition to a more modern platform where necessary.

Support the development of digital standards and governance throughout the school and provide strong recommendations for improvement. Contribute to the development and implementation of digital strategy.

Coordinate and facilitate the distribution of digital media through channels including but not limited to digital signage, mobile app, video streaming, and social media. Record, edit and create digital media including pictures, videos, fliers, documents for school events

Keep current a list of all school websites, owner/admin and supporting platform. Document approved themes and use cases. Provide content management and best practices training to end users within the school to empower them to update sections of the sites for which they have been given administrative access. Provide monthly reports on web analytics. Work closely with student staff to ensure knowledge transfer and build a workforce to ensure a strong digital presence.

Collaborate with the Marketing and Creative Services and other departments within the school to coordinate the advancement of the school’s websites, enhancing current sections or creating new sections when necessary. Assist faculty, staff and students in the creation, development and upkeep of their websites.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:

-Strong understanding of UI, cross-browser compatibility, general web functions and standards.
-Experience building and managing websites in Drupal and Wordpress including content structure and design.
-Knowledge of CSS/CSS3, HTML/HTML5, Java Script(jQuery), XML, PHP.
-Experience with web accessibility, mobility, and responsiveness best practices and standards.
-Experience working with media for the web using the Adobe Creative Cloud suite.
-Good understanding and familiarity with google Analytics, SEO and Social Media.
-General knowledge of digital signage/media/streaming and marketing automation.
-Ability to follow direction and self-manage to complete tasks according to deadlines.
-Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
-Strong project management and exceptional attention to details.
