Definition

Part-time/temporary assistant coach positions offer flexible hours and the opportunity to assist a diverse group of students-athletes in achieving their educational goals.

This part-time position is on an as need bases, and applicants should live within commuting distance to Orange County.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists with general coaching duties; such as assisting with organization and supervision of team activities, practices and logistical support of team operations
  • Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics in athletics.
  • Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas.
  • Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary coach in the athletic department.
  • Maintain accurate records.
  • Assignments may include day, evening, weekend, on-line and/or off-campus classes.
Qualifications and Physical Demands

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Must possess a combination of education and experience equivalent to:

  • Valid California Community College instructor credential appropriate to the subject per Education Code 87355 (issued prior to July 1, 1990); or,
  • Any degree; and
  • Two years of professional experience that is directly related to the coaching assignment.
  • Or, any combination of education and experience that would meet the required equivalent qualifications.

Desirable Qualifications:
  • Experienced coaching in the area of interest
  • Knowledge of CCCAA and OEC compliance and conference rules, and an understanding of NCAA edibility.
Conditions of Employment

Employment is on a part-time, temporary basis and contingent upon verification of employment history, background verification as governed under Education Code requirements, eligibility to work in the United States, and approval by the CCCD Board of Trustees. The hours of work and effective date of employment will be arranged with the supervisor.
This is a CONTINUOUS recruitment for an applicant POOL to fill part-time, temporary, hourly assignments on an as-needed basis. Departments or Divisions will refer to the POOL of applications on file to fill temporary assignments as the need arises. You will be contacted by the hiring manager should the department/division be interested in scheduling an interview. Please note: Possession of the minimum qualifications does not ensure an interview.

Physical Requirements:
The work is performed while standing or walking. Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing. Requires the ability to use hand and finger dexterity for simple grasping, pushing, pulling and fine manipulations. Requires repetitive movement. Requires the ability to bend, squat, crawl, climb, reach, with the ability to lift, carry, push or pull light weights. Requires the ability to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal levels, outdoors and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly; Requires the physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds to shoulder height and 50 pounds to waist height; and to bend, to stoop, to sit on the floor, to climb stairs, to walk and to reach overhead.
