Position SummaryProvide four-handed chairside assistance to dental hygienist and practitioners in New York City public schools for the PCORI research program. Instruct dental students and dental assistant students in techniques and utilization of four-handed dentistry and infection control. Perform tests; assist with preparing dental castings, dispensing medications and instructions, and performing minor dental and surgical procedures; ensure safe use, disposal, and storage of chemicals or hazardous materials. Maintain patient files and charts. Serve as clinic receptionist and clinic cashier. May assist with training and reviewing work of student and/or casual employees. This is a grant funded position that operates 10 months per year.QualificationsRequired Education:High School diploma or equivalent.Preferred Education:Certification as a Dental Assistant.Required Experience:Graduate of a Dental Assistant Training Program or 1-2 years of related experience.Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Knowledge of four-handed chairside dental techniques and dental lab equipment. Excellent interpersonal skills.
