Job Duties:10Assists all persons seeking directions, information or assistance.Essential10Makes preliminary investigations and submits necessary reports accurately and completely.Essential10Responds punctually to all assignments and immediately to all emergencies.Essential30Enforces the laws of S.C. and the rules and regulations applicable to MUSC in an impartial manner.Essential30Patrols assigned area diligently, giving particular attention to and often rechecking those locations where securityproblems have been most frequent.Essential5Informs the relieving officer of all information or concerns that would be of interest or importance.Essential5Perform other related duties as assigned.Essential

Payscale Salary Range: UNIV-Band 4: $26,988.00 - $38,460.00 - $49,932.00 (min - mid - max)

FLSA: Hourly

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: A high school diploma. Certification by the Department of Public Safety, in accordance with Section 23-6-430 of the 1976 South Carolina Code of Laws. Must pass a background check. Some positons require a commercial driver's license.

Physical Requirements: (Note: The following descriptions are applicable to this section: Continuous - 6-8 hours per shift; Frequent - 2-6 hours per shift; Infrequent - 0-2 hours per shift) Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time. (Continuous) Ability to lift materials up to 50 lbs, unassisted. (Infrequent) Ability to lift, drag, pull persons to safety, weighing up to 300 lbs., assisted. (Infrequent) Ability to hear and recognize various alarms, verbal summons and other sounds within noisy background areas. (Continuous) Ability to maintain 20/40 vision in both eyes, corrected. (Continuous) Ability to climb stairs to the top floor of any building within the institutions. (Infrequent) Olfactory sense must be intact in order to smell unusual odors. (Continuous) Ability to carry heavy objects, i.e. persons, a distance of 15 to 20 feet in emergency situations. (Infrequent) Ability to engage in physical confrontations with suspected offenders. (Infrequent) Ability to run for extended distances. (Infrequent) Ability to sit/drive a patrol vehicle for extended periods. (Continuous) Ability to ride a bicycle for extended periods. (Continuous) Ability to kneel. (Infrequent) Ability to bend. (Frequent) Ability to climb ladders. (Infrequent) Ability to work are heights at maximum height of buildings within institution boundaries. (Frequent) Ability to sit, for extended periods, while operating a patrol vehicle. (Continuous)
