The Dean’s Business Office in the College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources at the University of Connecticut seeks applications for an Assistant Dean for Finance and Administration (ADFA). The ADFA is responsible for providing strategic analysis, budget planning and comprehensive management and oversight of all resources under the purview of the Dean, including financial and human resources

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Serve as a senior advisor to the Dean for matters pertaining to administrative processes, fiscal management, human resource, compliance, staff professional development and risk managementInteract with other academic units, central offices, management, administrators, faculty and staff to attain the Dean’s mission and visionProvide various plans to the upper management to address federal and state rescissions and successfully implement the adopted and approved plan within the set guidelines and deadline while maintaining trust and confidentiality with various affected partiesCompile, interpret, forecast and communicate financial and human resource related information to various audiences including management, departments, faculty and staff Ensure optimum use of available resources while adhering to Federal, State and University guidelinesDevelop, implement and maintain internal control systemsRecognize potential financial opportunities or risks, provide options to the Dean to make an educated choice and work towards effectively executing the approved decisionSupervise, support and work with business office team who are responsible for finance, human resource and reporting functionsSubmit budget, report on federal grants, provide training, support and guidance to the office and department fiscal staff on a regular basisRepresent the College on various committees and teams

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Bachelor’s degree in business or related fieldAt least five years of professional experience in budgeting, human resource management and post award managementExtensive knowledge of university, federal and state procedures and guidelinesTwo to three years of supervisory experienceKnowledge of effort reportingExperience working with diverse groups in a project team setting and delivering successful outcomesProven ability to develop effective professional relationships and establish trust with peers and colleagues at all levels of an organizationExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work independently, exercising sound judgement while maintaining confidentialityKnowledge of reporting tools and dashboardsExcellent analytical and quantitative skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    Master’s degree in relevant fieldRelated experience in a Higher Ed settingWorking knowledge of Kuali, Webfocus, SPAR, RSA, Info Ed, Felix and CORE

APPOINTMENT TERMS

This is a full-time, 12-month position with an anticipated start date of March 1st, 2019. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
