The Spira-Lenburg lab within the Section of Computational Biomedicine in the Department of Medicine at Boston University Medical Campus focuses on translational research to better understand lung biology and disease. The Scientific Program Manager will oversee projects in both the wet and dry laboratories as well as the following: develop, implement and manage project work plans to increase research efficiency and effectiveness, contribute in the writing and coordination of grant applications, assist in scientific communications, and assist in the planning and coordination of future plans in accordance with the lab’s goals.

Responsibilities include:

• Develops, implements, and manages project-based work plans to ensure that milestones are met according to established timelines for multiple on-going studies as well as any new studies. Manages regularly-scheduled meetings with project faculty, staff, trainees and external collaborators.

• Prepare scientific communications; including visuals and presentations, progress reports and manuscripts. Establish and execute an abstract, poster and manuscript internal review process to increase productivity of submission materials.

• Manage and facilitate weekly lab meetings; including agendas, selection of presenters and recording of meeting notes and action items.

• Assist in the coordination and writing of pre-award applications.

• Assist with regulatory protocol administration; including interfacing with study coordinator staff for institutional review board protocols, high throughput genomics group leadership for institutional biosafety committee protocols and administrative director for material/data transfer agreements.

• Master’s Degree in scientific field required
• Program management experience preferred
• Strong critical thinking skills, problem-solving abilities and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication skills, including writing, and the ability to work in a fast-paced multidisciplinary team-based environment.
