We want an experienced, motivated, energetic, and hard-working person to join our team as a Multimedia Journalist and Broadcast News Writer.

This position helps to tell Florida State’s story on a daily basis through multi-platform video and audio content. Our new team member will write and produce a daily radio feature package for broadcast on our National Public Radio affiliate WFSU-FM, and create video content for broadcast on TV, web, and social media. You must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. You will have an opportunity to work with a team of experienced content creators unlike any other in higher education. Daily responsibilities include producing a daily radio segment for broadcast, enterprising news stories, interviewing subjects on or off campus, script writing, operating audio and video equipment, and editing. This position will also serve as one of the department’s backup emergency coordination officer’s (ECO) for FSU ALERT emergency notification system.
We’re looking for a team player with a strong worth ethic, who’s an efficient multi-tasker, and who’s passionate about their work!Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience related to the responsibilities of the job; or a high school diploma or equivalency and six years of experience related to the responsibilities of the job. (Note: or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to six years.)
Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task on daily deadlines.
Experience operating audio recording equipment.
Experience operating video cameras and editing programs.
Knowledge of journalism, communications, and public relations.
Knowledge of media and public relations protocol in order to maintain effective working relationships with media, the university, and the community.
Experience producing digital content for multi-platform programming.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills.Preferred Experience with on-air broadcast presentation.
Experience with Cinema and/or DSLR cameras.
Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere, Photoshop, InDesign, After Effects).Other Information Please include writing, video or audio samples, and links to any previous on-air work.Anticipated Salary Range Low to Mid $30'sPay Plan This is an A&P (Administrative and Professional) position.Criminal Background Check This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check.
