General Summary The Latin American and Latino/a Studies Program invites applications for a part-time, non-tenure track faculty position at the rank of Instructional Assistant Professor.
The successful candidate will teach two sections (one per semester) of the course LAL/SOC 109 Introduction to US Latino Populations.
These positions are represented by the non-tenure track faculty association and may have associated dues or fees.
Additional Information: The Latin American and Latino/a Studies Program consists of affiliated faculty across campus. The course, LAL/SOC 109 Introduction to US Latino Populations, will be taught in collaboration with Program Director Dr. Maura Toro-Morn, though the instructor will be at liberty to modify it according to his/her/their own interests and expertise within the parameters of the course. The course fulfills a core requirement for the growing Latin American and Latino/a Studies minor and is designated as a US Traditions course within the General Education curriculum. Additionally, ISU's LALS Program is deeply rooted in local community organizations and offers year-round extra curricular programming including speakers, films, art exhibits, community panels and more. LALS is also home to CAUSA, ISU's Committee to Assist Undocumented Student Achievement.
Required Qualifications 1. A Ph.D. in the Social Sciences, Education or a closely related field. ABDs will be considered.
2. At least one year of teaching experience.
3. State law mandates demonstrable oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position.
4. If this position is Security Sensitive or if you are subject to a criminal background investigation based on University policy, employment is contingent upon you passing a satisfactory criminal background investigation. You may not begin work until the criminal background investigation results have been received and cleared by Human Resources.
Necessary Licenses/Certifications/Degrees Ph.D. in the Social Sciences, Education or a closely related field. ABDs will be considered.
Hiring Rate/Range Commensurate with experience.
