Job description





The Department of Physics invites applications for one or more full-time tenured or tenure-track faculty positions in Experimental Quantum Information Science (QIS) beginning August 16, 2018. Experimental quantum information science is part of a $15M investment in the new Illinois Quantum Information Science and Technology (IQUIST) center, including multiple hires in Physics, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Computer Science. Physicists from all subfields of QIS, including computation, communication, and sensing, and working with various platforms (e.g., solid state, AMO, fundamental or applied), are encouraged to apply. Appointments at the Assistant Professor level will be given preference, but appointments at a higher level will be considered for exceptionally well-qualified candidates. A Ph.D., or equivalent, is required, along with the ability to teach effectively at both undergraduate and graduate levels and to conduct a vigorous and significant research program at the cutting edge of the field. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with qualification.

Qualified senior candidates may also be considered for tenured full Professor positions as part of the Grainger Engineering Breakthroughs Initiative.
