Job description





The Department of Physics invites applications for a full-time tenured or tenure track faculty position in Physics Education Research (PER) beginning as early as August 16, 2019. The PER group at the University of Illinois benefits from its full integration in the physics department, and the ability to work with outstanding students at all levels.

Appointments at the Assistant Professor level will be given preference, but appointments at a higher level will be considered for exceptionally well-qualified candidates. The successful candidate must hold a Ph.D., or equivalent, and is expected to teach effectively at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, have a strong record of publication, and to lead a vigorous research program at the cutting edge of the field. Ideal candidates include those who demonstrate evidence of a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through research, teaching, and/or service endeavors. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications.

Qualified senior candidates may also be considered for tenured full Professor positions as part of the Grainger Engineering Breakthroughs Initiative.
