Position Summary
Facilities Services. The Superintendent of Custodial Operations directs custodial maintenance services for at least ninety buildings totaling approximately 3.1 million square feet to provide a clean and sanitary learning and working environment for students, faculty and staff on the Statesboro campus.

Essential Functions

  • Supervises approximately 150 employees consisting of floor technicians, industrial cleaning technicians, equipment mechanics, contractors, supply and inventory technicians and a logistical support manager.
  • Prepares departmental budget and forecasts future financial requirements based on data collected.
  • Develops and implements a maintenance cleaning plan for each work area to ensure workload balance and service delivery.
  • Establishes efficient working hours and a maintenance cleaning plan for each custodian.
  • Develops, maintains and monitors supply inventory control system and preventative maintenance program.
  • Ensures safety program objectives are met by developing and implementing safety programs that create a culture of safety.
  • Provides event set-up support, special project management, quality assessment and inspection management, business unit performance management (metrics, KPIs, etc.), supply management, and after hour emergency response.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    Effective communication (verbal and written), organization and human relations skills; ability to work well in a diverse environment; proficiency with computer and Microsoft Office Applications software including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases; legally authorized to work in the United States; successful completion of background investigation prior to employment.

    Preferred Experience
    Three or more years of supervisory experience in a facilities management related field; ability to read and interpret technical drawings, visual graphics, blueprints, and regulations; analyze information and devise new methods; and maintain knowledge of safety regulations/procedures.
