Search for the Vice Provost for Student Affairs

Corvallis, Oregon

Oregon State University (OSU), Oregon’s land-grant and premier research university and the state’s only institution to hold both the Carnegie Foundation’s top designation for research institutions and its prestigious Community Engagement classification, seeks an inspiring, collaborative, and experienced leader to serve as the Vice Provost for Student Affairs (Vice Provost). This is an opportunity to work with a dynamic leadership team and lead a talented staff to support student success and the academic mission of the University. The Vice Provost will be an integral member of the Academic Affairs team and will increase the impact of the Student Affairs team as it ensures a responsive and welcoming environment for all students well into the future and helps propels OSU towards its goal of becoming one of the top land grant universities in the nation.

It is an exciting time to join OSU as the University is more committed than ever to the principles of access, excellence and inclusivity, and OSU is sharply focused on increased student success from recruitment through the graduation and the career development of all students. Provost and Executive Vice President, Dr. Edward Feser, joined the University in February 2017, and under his and President Ed Ray’s leadership, the University continues to climb in excellence by keeping a clear focus on valuing student success, advancing and disseminating knowledge, and serving the people and state of Oregon and beyond. The University is now in the fourth iteration of its strategic plan since 2004 and continues to make measurable progress in all areas, including the growth and diversification of faculty and high-achieving students, and the creation of a more inclusive and welcoming community. The Division of Student Affairs plays a vital role in ensuring the success of the University’s academic mission and strategic plan.

OSU’s main campus is located on 400 acres in Corvallis, Oregon, about 90 miles south of Portland. Other campuses are the Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport, OSU-Cascades campus in Bend, and a new facility in downtown Portland. OSU experienced a record number of students for the fall 2018 term, enrolling 32,011 students, with 71.2 percent of OSU’s Corvallis undergraduate enrollment coming from the state of Oregon. OSU also has a presence in every one of Oregon’s 36 counties, through 15 Agricultural Experiment Stations, 36 county Extension offices, and also provides online learning through Ecampus. OSU is one of only two universities in the country to hold the Land, Sea, Space and Sun Grant designations.

OSU seeks a collaborative and strategic Vice Provost who can work effectively with the President, Provost and Executive Vice Presidents, Vice Provosts, Deans and other senior leaders, the Faculty Senate, students, staff, and faculty to lead and ensure a transformational student experience at OSU. The Vice Provost will work across the OSU campuses to facilitate strategies and initiatives that improve the quality of the student experience, ensuring individual student needs are met while fostering a more inclusive experience for the entire community.
