The Library Specialist I, under supervision, provides general customer service and other basic library functions in one or more library units. Under close supervision, learns more advanced library functions.
Responsibilities:
- Provides general customer service support for library users.
- Responds to basic questions and instructs library customers on accessing library online catalogs, research guides, physical collections, and other electronic reference databases. Performs data entry and records updates in spreadsheets.
- Performs validation and reconciliation of library resources against invoices or shipping documents.
- Assists in the more advanced, intermediate library functions in one or more operational units of the library.
- May use some advanced reference and other resources to resolve problems.

Education & Experience:
- High school diploma and one year of related library experience.
KSAs:
- Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications. Knowledge of email and internet search engines.
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Basic keyboarding skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to move medium weight boxes, books, heavy book truck or similar items.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to handle material containing dust or microscopic mold spores.
