Job Description

The Department of Curriculum & Instruction is a newly developed department in the College of Education and Human Development. This growing department seeks candidates for a full-time, tenure-track appointment beginning fall 2019-20 fiscal year. The appointment is for an Associate or Full Professor of Curriculum & Instruction. Successful candidates will teach undergraduate/graduate level courses in general topics of education, such as pedagogy, curriculum, and classroom management. In addition, successful candidates will work collaboratively with faculty to build a comprehensive education program supporting a diverse population. The supervision of field-based students and/or clinical teachers is also possible. An active service and research agenda with publications and conference presentations are necessary. Mentorship of tenure-track faculty is essential in addition to the involvement in campus activities and other responsibilities, as deemed necessary. Quality performance will be expected in teaching, scholarship, and university committee participation. Work hours flexible to suit course schedule. Teaching assignments may include day, night, or weekend classes.  

Required Qualifications:  

  • Doctoral Degree from a regionally accredited institution in Curriculum & Instruction or a closely related field. 
  • University teaching experience at the Assistant Professor level 
  • A minimum of three years teaching experience (K-12) in an inclusive public school setting. 
  • Teacher/professional certification in area of teaching field. 
  • Demonstrated potential for teaching excellence. 
  • Evidence of developing research agenda that will impact professional knowledge and practice. 
  • Demonstrated ability in working with culturally diverse populations. 
  • Candidates prepared to engage in cross-disciplinary teaching, research and service.  


Preferred Qualifications:

  • University teaching and supervisory experience within a field-based program. 
  • Experience mentoring students. 
  • Experience with educational technology and distance learning. 
  • Experience seeking external funding.
