Job Description

Under direction, this position oversees Institutional Research functions and meet the data request and reporting needs of the University. The Director of Institutional Research will be responsible for completing all required reporting, including requests from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, Legislative Budget Board, SACS, and IPEDs. In addition, this position will collaborate with University faculty and staff to compile, analyze, and report on a wide range of institutional data on institutional characteristics, enrollment, and student achievement.

This position typically works Monday-Friday; 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. May work beyond normal office hours to include evenings, weekends, and peak times. 

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate, compile, analyze, interpret and report an extensive range of quantitative and qualitative data on all facets of the university and its components related to educational issues, including areas such as institutional characteristics, enrollment, student retention, enrollment projections, and other institutional data.
  • Provide timely and accurate information in response to ad hoc reporting requests from University faculty, staff, and students in support of the strategic planning, budgeting, assessment, and decision-making processes at the Institution.
  • Prepare and submit all standard and scheduled reports required by external organizations, such as the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, Legislative Budget Board, Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, IPEDS, or others.
  • Coordinate the development and administration of a wide-range of surveys, including, student, employer, and employee satisfaction surveys and market analysis surveys.
  • Participate in the implementation of the new student information system and data warehouse.


Education & Experience:

  • Master's degree in applicable field and eight years of related experience.
  • Relevant experience in institutional research or closely related field, data management and analysis, use of statistical software and databases on PC and mainframe; experience in educational management including accreditation and assessment.

KSAs:

  • Knowledge in institutional research and assessment within a higher education setting including accreditation processes, data collection, and analysis in a higher education setting. Knowledge with report programming and database technology (e.g., Crystal Reports, Business Objects, SQL), database and data warehousing, programming, report and presentation preparation.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills as well as presentation skills. Effective management and leadership skills. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to set goals, meet deadlines and effectively work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Keen understanding of the structures of higher education, statistical research methodology and analysis, and data processing applications.
  • Experience with communicating technical information in ways that are useful to recipients/users, and support institutional decision-making.
