Title:Systems Administrator (Professional Services Specialist 3, Comp- NE) Requisition Code:S1800091 Location:.Main Campus Job Category:Professional Department:Information Technology Svs (450020) Salary:$53,611.00 Work Hours:8:00- 4:00 Posted Date:11/08/2018 Responsibilities:Under the direction of the Associate Director of Information Systems, works as a member of a team in the installation, upgrading, and maintenance of software systems, as well as installation and configuration of operating systems and system applications; does other related duties as required. Some examples of work include:

  • Administer virtualized Linux servers including installing software, patches, configuration and automation
  • Manage new and/or existing software systems, from full implementation to support.
  • Troubleshoot and remedy issues at any level in the stack, from system all the way to the end user.
  • Analyze requirements for new and/or upgraded software systems to determine best practices. Produce detailed evidence and documentation supporting such practices.
  • Conduct analysis and testing of existing software systems to ensure stability, security and quality of service for end users.
  • Consult with other technical staff regarding large scale and/or complex problems requiring software and/or hardware technology solutions.
  • Consult, train and support end users with regards to new and/or existing software systems.
  • Maintain current working knowledge of software systems, technologies and trends related to current software systems and higher education.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Associate Director of Information Systems.

Qualifications:
    Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or closely related field along with two years of professional level experience in administering Linux (RHEL/CentOS) servers in virtualized environments.Working knowledge of web/application servers, proxying and database systems including NGINX, Tomcat (including familiarity with Java), and Oracle Database.Ability to troubleshoot application software as needed. Proficiency with network stacks and firewalls including iptables.Applicants who do not have the required education may substitute experience on a year for year basis.A Master’s degree may be substituted for one (1) year of required experience.
