Job Description:

Saybrook University is seeking a Graduate Student Peer Lead to join its College of Humanistic and Clinical Psychology.

Under the direction of the Director of the Department of Humanistic and Clinical Psychology, the Graduate Student Peer Lead is responsible for assisting the director, assistant director, and Specialization/Faculty Leads, as well as serving as a peer mentor and liaison between students and faculty.

A. Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist Specialization and Faculty Leads in Graduate Colloquium course or Specialization Community shells
  • Review students’ individual program plan
  • Support development of newsletter and/or other relevant media
  • Partner with faculty in reviewing course syllabi prior to publishing
  • Serve as a liaison to student leadership/government, advisor, and faculty as needed
  • Support students during the school year as a peer mentor and a liaison between students and faculty
  • Assist the admission’s team where possible (e.g., speaking with potential applicants)
  • Work collaboratively with faculty and academic advisor(s)as needed
  • Where possible, attend Residential Orientation and assist faculty in orienting incoming students

    B. Position Requirements:

  • Committed to advancing the Saybrook mission and academic excellence
  • Demonstrated knowledge in area of service (e.g., specialization, clinical)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Able to work independently as well as collaboratively
  • Attend meetings during the school year
  • Able to work within a range of 10 - 20 hours per week during academic calendar

    C. Position Qualifications:

    Currently enrolled in a graduate doctoral program in the Department of Humanistic and Clinical Psychology and academically in good standing (at least 5 semesters or more)

    Qualify for Federal Work Study (FWS) OR interest in serving as a HCP Peer Lead for professional development experience for those who do not qualify for FWS
