The department of Industrial Design at the Metropolitan State University of Denver is seeking applicants for a Tenure Track Faculty position starting Fall 2018 for the 2018-19 academic year.Duties/Responsibilities
This position requires the tenure track faculty to teach a minimum of 24 credit hours per academic year, and maintain 5 office hours per week to include advising/consultation with students. The successful candidate is expected to teach and potentially develop courses such as, but not limited to: Technical Design Visualization, Materials and Fabrication courses, Technology, and Industrial Design Studio Courses. The faculty person must serve on departmental, College and University committees and fulfill other service duties as assigned by the department chair. Participation in program and curriculum development and assessment activities is expected. The successful candidate must be active in professional development and scholarly activities relevant to the discipline and must have the ability to work with and be sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse urban population. The University is particularly interested in applicants who have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and a demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for under-represented groups.

The successful Industrial Design candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design and, at minimum, a Master’s Degree in a related field plus four years of relevant professional experience in a company that produced real goods, or a Doctorate degree in a related field with minimum three years of professional work experience.Preferred Qualifications
The applicant has minimum two years of College-level teaching experience at a nationally accredited institution. The applicant has experience in teaching entrepreneurial-minded design and manufacturing. The applicant has experience with developing course materials, teaching with technology, and curriculum development work. Professional experience should include work dealing specifically with the interface between design and manufacturing, or experience in Advanced and Emergent Manufacturing Technologies.
