Working as part of the Information Technology Services Application Services team, the Senior Applications Administrator supports the University mission by ensuring ongoing availability and performance of critical business systems. 40% – Application Administration
•The Senior Applications Administrator will devote the majority of their time and attention to ensuring the continual operation of critical systems, particularly the campus ERP platform (Ellucian Banner) and related technologies, including Oracle Weblogic and a range of third-party integrations.
•Additionally, this team will migrate code into production environments, perform scheduled system upgrades, troubleshoot system performance or stability issues and administer system access for enterprise software solutions.
•Lastly, successful team members will independently identify opportunities for configuration changes that yield enhanced stability or performance, recommend implementation steps and complete necessary tasks to implement recommendations.
30% – Database Administration
•Assist in ongoing management of Oracle and MSSQL database platforms, including routine tuning and scheduled upgrades.
•Independently perform database maintenance tasks, including data backup and restoration as needed.
•Create and configure new databases in accordance with industry best practices as needed to support campus technology operations.
10% – Knowledge Management & Skill Development
•As a senior-level resource, this position will encourage a well-rounded and cross-trained team by documenting standard departmental processes and system configurations, assisting other team members and facilitating open knowledge exchange within the team.
10% – Project Management
•Serve as a subject matter expert for specific projects as needed, identifying requirements, developing a project plan and executing approved plans as needed.
10% – Other duties as assigned, including occasional after-hours or on-call assignments.Required Qualifications
•Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university*
•Experience administering currently-supported versions of Oracle Database and/or Oracle Weblogic
•Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux v6 or later
•Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics or a related field
•Professional experience in a higher education environment
•Demonstrated experience using scripting languages such as Unix shell, batch/PowerShell (Windows), or a currently-relevant programming language such as C, C#, Java or Ruby
•Demonstrated experience developing SQL queries within a production relational database environment.
•Experience administering Ellucian Banner v8 and/or v9
•7+ years’ experience administering Oracle Weblogic
•7+ years’ experience administering Oracle Database 11g or later
*Candidates who have not attained a four-year degree may be considered, with each year of professional experience counting as one-half year of education.
