Undergraduate Physical Science / Graduate Adjunct Faculty Instructor - Louisville area

Position Description:

The instructor with the Master’s degree in Physics or one of the physical sciences will be expected to educate adult non-science majors, and emphasize a conceptual understanding of major concepts relating to real-world topics, societal issues, and modern technology. Courses are taught primarily through an online modality with the possibility of some onsite sections. Basic mathematical skills in algebra are reinforced and utilized for introducing the following topics: Scientific Methodology, Force and Motion, Energy, Atoms and the Periodic Table, Chemical Processes, Nuclear Reactions, The Universe, Earth Science.


The instructor with the Ph.D. in Physics will also be expected to educate adult learners by teaching one or more graduate physics courses, primarily through an online modality with the possibility of a hybrid modality in certain regions (hybrid = some onsite/most online). Intended for educators needing to add Physics to their concentration, our graduate physics courses offered by the Natural Science Department include PHYS-501, Mathematical Methods for Physicists; PHYS-502, Classical Mechanics; PHYS-503, Electromagnetism; PHYS-504, Quantum Mechanics I; PHYS-505, Quantum Mechanics II; PHYS-506, Modern Physics.


Qualifications:

Preferred:

Ph.D. or other doctorate with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the discipline stated in the Title of Posting.

Required:

A master’s degree with minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the discipline stated in the Title of Posting.


Work Experience: Experience teaching adult learners using a learning management system is preferred.

•Demonstrated higher education experience.

•Demonstrated proficiency in using Microsoft products.

•Demonstrated knowledge of adult learners
