RESEARCH TECHNICIAN I
Perform a variety of technical duties involved in conducting standardized tests, experiments and determinations in support of research-oriented activities at Duke University. The Tata Laboratory in the Department of Cell Biology at Duke University School of Medicine is looking for an enthusiastic and skilled research technician. The Tata lab is studying cellular plasticity mechanisms in organ regeneration and tumorigenesis. The candidate will assist in research to study a novel population of stem/progenitors in lung homeostasis and regeneration and cancer using murine models. A competitive salary and benefits package will be provided according to the Duke University School of Medicine guidelines. - Start date is October 2018.
Bachelor's degree in stem cells, regeneration, biology, biochemistry, Cell biology, genetics, and or a related science field with significant research experience.
The candidate will work closely with a postdoctoral fellows and graduate students and is expected to independently perform daily activities of the laboratory, which include:
• Mice maintenance, breeding, genotyping
• Assists lab personnel with routine experiments
• Performs standard molecular biology techniques (cloning, PCR, DNA and protein extraction, etc.)
• Packaging viruses (AAV, Lenti)
• Perform histological techniques (tissue processing, sectioning, immunofluorescence)
• Documents, compiles, and analyzes experimental results
• Understanding of lab policies and procedures - usually acquired through 1-3 months on-the-job training.
• Good manual dexterity
• Enthusiasm and ability to quickly learn new techniques and work independently.
• Must demonstrate careful attention to detail
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
