Reporting to the Research Director, the Research Assistant Professor of Animal Nutrition is responsible for developing and establishing a competitively funded independent research program to address critical or emerging issues in the field of small ruminant nutrition. This is a 12-month non-tenure-track 100% research position at the Agricultural Research Station, College of Agriculture, Family Sciences and Technology.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and establish a competitively funded independent research program to address critical or emerging issues in the field of small ruminant nutrition
- Advise and mentor graduate students
- Recruit students for the animal science program
- Serve on institutional committees
- Provide services to professional organizations, the University and the community
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Animal or Ruminant Nutrition from an accredited institution
- Demonstrable competency in using available statistical software (SAS, SPSS)
- Evidence of research excellence in the area of small ruminant nutrition
- Ability to generate external funding
- Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with colleagues in teaching, research and extension
- Post-doctoral research experience preferred
Working conditions
- Climate controlled environmentSome travel may be required to attend training and/or conferencesRegular work schedule is Monday-Friday 8a-5p; some weekends and evenings may be required on occasion
