Academic appointment in the Department of Family Medicine and Rural Health


The Florida State University College of Medicine (COM) invites interested individuals to apply for multiple faculty positions for FSU PrimaryHealth within the Florida Medical Practice Plan (FMPP).

The positions will involve significant teaching of medical students, as well as assisting in the building and shaping of an innovative, integrated curriculum and new clinical facility. We have growing research interests in the areas of rural health, health disparities & equity, and innovative delivery of health care, including telehealth.

FSU COM has a focused mission of training patient-centered physicians devoted to the needs of rural, minority, elderly and other underserved populations. The school is committed to diversity and inclusion and is very "Family Medicine friendly" with family physicians holding several key administrative positions, including Dean of the College.


Doctoral degree; demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service; and personal/professional goals which are consistent with the mission of the FSU College of Medicine.

Relevant academic/professional experience and excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Provider trained in and passionate about family medicine and care for underserved communities.
Desire to practice in a highly integrated primary care and behavioral health center.
Completion of an approved U.S. Residency Program and current Board Certification in Family Medicine.
Must have a current and unrestricted license to practice medicine in Florida, or currently licensed in another state with the ability to obtain FL Licensure.

Experience in teaching medical students is highly desirable.
Knowledge and experience with medical informatics is desirable.
Practice experience in Leon County, FL is highly desirable.

Pay Plan

This is a Faculty position.

Soft Money Funded Position

These are soft money funded position, with renewal based on available funds and the needs of the University.

Criminal Background Check

This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check, to include fingerprinting. The background check will be conducted as authorized and in accordance with University Policy 4-OP-C-7-B11.
