Job Description:


The Fashion Institute of Technology, a part of the State University of New York, has been a leader in career education in art, design, business, and technology for nearly 70 years. The college continually seeks creative faculty members who are passionate about their field and demonstrate exceptional professional capability in the core competencies of instruction design, learning enrichment, globalism, and use of technology, as well as mastery of established and emerging industry practices.


An Adjunct Instructor is needed in the Textile Development & Marketing department at FIT to teach Textile Costing and Converting, a senior level required course.



Requirements:


Candidate must have knowledge of and a proven track record in the product development process of fiber through finished fabric on the business side and some creative experience. Knowledge must include fabric cost structure through selling price, global sourcing, currency exchange, L/C, basic accounting and business skills. Additionally candidate must demonstrate a creative understanding of patterns, color range, color assortments and combinations, fabric weights, widths, and yarn numbers.


Bachelor of Science Degree in business or textiles required. Minimum of least 7 years related professional experience in the Textile or related Industries at the executive level, an aptitude for interdisciplinary projects and an ability to integrate computer technology into the classroom.



Teaching experience preferred.



Additional Information:


$72.08 per hour

The Fashion Institute of Technology is a State University of New York college of art and design located in New York City. In 1951, it became one of the first SUNY community colleges empowered to grant the Associate of Applied Science degree.
