JOB DESCRIPTION
Function: Perform general custodial duties and setups. Assist with projects such as cleaning of new construction and remodeling jobs.
Essential Responsibilities: 1.Perform custodial tasks in various areas of campus buildings. Sweep, mop, rinse, strip and wax floors; maintain restrooms; empty trash; vacuum carpets and clean windows.

2.Operate mechanical custodial equipment such as sweepers, floor scrubbers, buffers, shampooers, moving equipment, snow blowers, etc.

3.Clean light fixtures and lenses when necessary.

4.Assist grounds department with snow removal of walks and building entrances and discard miscellaneous waste around exterior of buildings and courtyards.

5.Assist facility events with custodial coverage as needed.

6.Assist in special cleaning and moving projects due to building renovations and new construction.

7.Clean biohazard waste, when necessary, utilizing proper sanitary and health safety precautions and procedures.

8.Lock and unlock buildings and classrooms per college's schedule of events.

Other Responsibilities: 1.May require performance working a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends.

2.Performs other duties as assigned which pertain to the job description.

Physical Demands: Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Position requires visual acuity to perform activities (i.e. operates machines where the seeing job is at or within arm's reach; performs mechanical or skilled trades tasks of a non-repetitive nature).

Position requires visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned (i.e. custodial, food services, general labor, etc.) or to make general observations of facilities or structures (i.e. security, inspection, etc.).

Moderate noise.

Typical office or administrative conditions (i.e. not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions).

Outdoor weather conditions.

Wet or humid conditions (non-weather related).

Extreme cold (temperatures typically below 32° for periods of more than one hour).

Extreme heat (temperatures above 100° for periods of more than one hour).

Vibration. Exposure to oscillating movements of the extremities or whole body.

Hazards. (Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to radiation, or exposure to chemicals).

Fumes or airborne particles (Includes fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases or poor ventilation).

Work in close quarters (i.e. narrow aisles or passageways, crawl spaces, shafts, man holes, small enclosed rooms or other areas that could cause claustrophobia).

Required Qualifications: 1.One year previous custodial experience.

2.Ability to read and comprehend documents such as safety rules, safety data sheets, operating and maintenance instructions and manuals.

3.A valid driver's license.
