JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB DESCRIPTION
Function: Responsible for the coordination of the educational support services and activities associated with the department, including casework outreach services to at-risk second language students to help them successfully complete a college semester and to assist students in persisting to register for subsequent semesters to meet their educational goals.
Essential Responsibilities: 1.Managing and evaluating staff to ensure that program objectives are accomplished. Includes hiring, training and assigning of workloads.

2.Advising students, including coordinating and implementing support services activities for program participants. Also includes monitoring student assessment and tracking systems.

3.Coordinate and implement service delivery for student population, including workshops and activities for financial aid, college and career related information, and completion of forms and applications.

4.Develop guidelines for participation in student recognition activities.

5.Develop community contacts for service referrals.

6.Coordinate and implement support service activities for program staff, which may include late afternoon, evening or weekend work.

7.Update procedure manuals, department program calendar and mapping process for the department.

8.Assist with proposal writing and annual reports.

9.Research and prepare information for grant funded projects.

Physical Demands: Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Required Qualifications: 1.Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

2.Sensitivity to the needs of multicultural, financially, and physically challenged population.

3.Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel and Outlook) and use of the Internet.
Desired Qualifications: 1.Previous experience using databases, including enterprise-wide databases (e.g. Datatel).

2.For positions working in the ESL Department-the ability to communicate fluently in Spanish and have an understanding of the culture.
