Dutchess Community College invites applications for a full-time, Tenure-Track Instructor position in Biological Sciences.
The individual in this position will have responsibility for teaching Biology core and elective courses. Teaching responsibilities may include some combination of on-ground, on-line, and hybrid courses in a highly interactive teaching/learning environment that includes significant faculty/student interaction. The successful candidate will value the mission of the college and support the college's commitment to community service, strategic planning, and the intellectual development of all students. Preference will be given to candidates with experience working with or teaching community college students and to those with an understanding and appreciation of the role of the community college in higher education. A deep passion for the discipline of Biological Sciences and the energy to engage all levels of students in the process of learning will be sought in the successful candidate.
Preferred candidates should be able to demonstrate an understanding of the role of assessment in course and program development. Candidates should have experience in using instructional technology in classroom or online adaptations, proficiency with common laboratory instrumentation and a willingness to adopt new and emerging technologies. An appreciation for diversity of all types and how diversity impacts learning and instruction is strongly desired.
Candidate must have a Master's Degree in Biological Sciences. Experience in using a variety of instructional methods to facilitate student learning is sought. Significant experience with computer, video and other multi-media assisted instruction at the college level is preferred.
Faculty positions are covered by a collective bargaining agreement between Dutchess Community College and Dutchess United Educators (DUE).
