MARKETING ASSOCIATE, ONLINE ENGAGEMENT

Alumni Relations at Boston University is a key component of the Campaign for Boston University. Responsible for connecting with, engaging, and helping foster lifetime connections with the 300,000 Boston University Alumni across the globe, Alumni Relations is the first point of contact for alums looking to reconnect or engage with their alma mater.

JOB SCOPE

The Development & Alumni Relations Marketing Associate of Alumni Communication is responsible for implementing an online engagement strategy for DAR with a strong focus on email marketing strategies. This includes managing the department’s email marketing system, providing best practices through the use of engagement analytics, and designing dynamic web and email content in support of DAR in a campaign environment. The Assistant Director is also responsible for supporting interactive media projects managed by Alumni Relations and other Development colleagues, through collaboration, training, education, consumer testing, and troubleshooting. Working with the Director of Strategic Alumni Engagement, the Associate Director of Online Engagement, and other Development and Alumni Relations staff members as well as campus partners to ensure optimal engagement of our website and email strategies.
• Strategic development of email and online content: In collaboration with colleagues, define goals and develop/carry out concepts for email and website projects and components. This includes collaborating with other DAR and university-wide partners to develop robust content; identifying new opportunities for promoting alumni engagement; and implementing the design and production of assigned projects.

• Technical leadership of email and online engagement strategies: Must analyze results of efforts and redefine strategies accordingly and stay abreast of cutting edge practices on the use of email and web. Train and support colleagues in how to use the broadcast email system. Support evolution of the BU Alumni Association website. Act as resource of design expertise for colleagues, including those building their own email content.

• Planning and strategy: Work directly with the Director and Associate Director to plan and carry out the broadcast email request system to support Development & Alumni Relations. Includes liaising with DAR and campus partners as well as University Marketing & Communication.

• Management of emerging technologies initiatives: Develop strategic projects to take advantage of opportunities presented by emerging technologies and social media in partnership with the New Media Coordinator.


Bachelors degree required with Masters preferred and 3-5 years of related experience. In addition, experience in Data Analysis, writing and editing, email marketing and HTML.
